Walk workout: Wisdom in woods (ages 9-12)
We’re taking Dance Moves by Laura Noel outdoors!
Our mental health has been challenged over the last several months and my intention is to offer a class where our young people can get a double whammy of fresh air and endorphin-producing exercise to help us stay mentally and physically healthy. Positive thinking and practicing gratitude has always been a core part of my classes and this year it is even more important. Additionally, healthy living guidance will be included in all of my classes with the goal of going into the winter months strong, happy and healthy.
Over the years I’ve added many tricks to my exercise “tool box.” The rail trail and Starkey Park have become my best friend for the last five months. During this unusual time, we can show our young people that exercise doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated. With a towel or yoga mat (and a bit of creativity) we can stretch and tumble safely. Additionally, many exercises can be performed on park benches, picnic tables, stairs, ramps and level ground.
Location: All classes gather at the Big 4 Trailhead parking lot off Starkey Road
Things to bring: Tennis shoes, athletic clothing, water bottle, beach towel or yoga mat
